"It is a guardian; a rescuer; protecting from the punishment of the grave," the Messenger of Allah (may Allah pour peace and blessings upon him) remarked, according to Ibn Abbas. (Al-Hakim and At-Tirmidhi.)

"I have found in Allah's book a Surah thirty passages long; whomever reads it while he sleeps thirty good deeds are written for him; thirty wrong actions are removed, and he is promoted thirty degrees," Ibn Abbas adds. Allah sends an angel to cover him with his wings and guard him from harm till he awakens. Tabarak alldhi biyadihi l-Mulku is the disputer who contends for its reader in the grave."
