Monitor the eruption risk of Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei volcanoes in Campania

This app uses real-time earthquake data from the Vesuvius Observatory of Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) to provide a convenient record of earthquake activity at Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei volcanoes near Naples in the Italian Region of Campania.

In addition to daily lists of events and maps of epicentre locations the app provides clear graphs which show daily, weekly and monthly trends in seismic activity. These form the basis of assessments of the risk of eruption of these two large, historically active and well-known volcanoes.

Continuous monitoring of this risk is especially important in view of the large number of people who live on or close to Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei. At present Vesuvius is calm and slowly cooling but Campi Flegrei has been increasingly restless since 1950.
