The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the general directing body for the session of badminton saw by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Set up in 1934 as the International Badminton Federation (IBF) with nine section nations (Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales), the BWF has since reached out to 176 section nations around the world.

On 24 September 2006, at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, it was grasped the new name Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Its head office was arranged in Cheltenham, UK since its setting up, however on 1 October 2005, was moved to Kuala Lumpur. Its present president is Poul-Erik Høyer Larsen.
